The Programed Learning of Agricultural Microbiology was established 1972. Due to the government policy in the number and grouping of study program in Gadjah Mada University, the department had to amalgamate to the Department of Soils Science. The development of science and technology, especially in microbiology and biotechnology, the existence of a Agricultural Microbiology Academic Program is a necessity. Therefore, in June 18, 2003 the Study Program of Agricultural Microbiology was re-launched. The objective of programe learning is mainly developing management system of biological resources in achieving beneficial and sustainable agriculture. Student will study and learn about the synergy between microorganism and plant. To implement such activities, the study program is supported by 6 laboratories i.e. :

  • Laboratory of  General Microbiology
  • Laboratory of Microbial Ecology
  • Laboratory of Microbial Physiology
  • Laboratory of Microbial Genetic
  • Laboratory of Agroindustrial Microbiology
  • Laboratory of  Soilenvironmental Microbiology
